On the evening of 21st January, the Dept. added another feather to its hat with the arrival of Prof. CNR Rao accompanied with 8 other eminent scientists from JNCASR,IISc,NIIST to the workshop on Advances in Materials.
The lecture series consisted of 13 lectures which spanned over 2 days,the topics covered were: Alternative route to multiferroics( Prof. C.N.R.Rao), Perovskites Oxides (Prof. A. Sunderasan),Droplet Epitaxy of InN Quantum Structures (Prof. S.B. Krupanidhi), Gels, foams, and films of Au nanoparticle-PDMS composites (Prof. G.U. Kulkarni),Carbon materials derived from carbohydrates and their applications (Prof. Eswaramoorthy),Functional Hydrogels as Biomaterials (Prof. Udya Maitra),Nano-mechanical characterization of advanced materials (Prof. U. Ramamurthy),Heteroepitaxial Self-assembled Nanostructures (Prof. S.M. Shivaprasad),Optical Properties of Quantum Dots and Wires (George Thomas),Nanoparticles and nanoemulsions: Fundamentals and Applications (Prof. D.O.Shah, DDU, Nadiad),Understanding Corrosion before it happens (Prof. K. Baba Pai, MSU, Vadodara),Inorganic Nanomaterials as reinforcements for structural applications (Prof. L.M.Manocha) and High Performance Nanoporous Carbons (Prof. (Mrs.)S. Manocha)
